Description

The Handel and Haydn Society (H+H) seeks an experienced fundraising professional to manage its institutional giving program during a staff leave. The Interim Institutional Giving Manager will oversee H+H’s active portfolio of foundation, corporate, and government funders and prospects and inspire philanthropic support in service to H+H’s mission: To inspire the intellect, touch the heart, elevate the soul, and connect us all with our shared humanity through transformative experiences with Baroque and Classical music. The successful candidate will be an accomplished development writer and institutional fundraiser who can quickly translate H+H’s priorities into compelling cases for support, including sophisticated seven-figure and multi-year proposals.

Please note, this is a temporary role to backfill a leave of absence and is in-person.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Manage H+H’s institutional giving calendar and ensure timely completion of proposals, letters of inquiry, reports, and other funder requirements.
  • Develop compelling proposals and cases for support for foundation, corporate, and government funders, including significant seven-figure and multi-year funding requests.
  • Quickly develop a strong understanding of H+H’s artistic, learning, community, and organizational priorities and translate those priorities into persuasive funding opportunities.
  • Work with the President & CEO to establish priorities, review funding strategies, and identify opportunities or concerns requiring leadership involvement.
  • Identify and pursue new institutional funding opportunities that align strongly with H+H’s priorities.
  • Update and track interactions with institutions in the Tessitura database and maintain clear documentation of work to support a seamless transition when the staff member returns from leave.
