Temporary Part-time Patient Care Assistant II (Allied Health Services)[St John Hospital]

Key Responsibilities\:

1. Assist various Allied Health colleagues to prepare and carry out treatment programs, group activities and educational activities for patients.

2. Assist in providing patient care services, observation, monitoring of patient’s general condition in order to ensure patient safety and comfort.

3. Assist Allied Health colleagues in setting up and assembly of equipment and prepare patients for assessment and treatment.

4. Assist in transfer of patients, including transfer of patients to wards as necessary.

5. Teach and supervise patients in related skills during therapeutic activities.

6. Carry out specific patient assessments, activities and rehabilitation groups in wards or departments.

7. Prepare, maintain, clean and sterilize therapeutic equipment tools, materials, consumable and treatment area.

8. Provide administrative and clerical support for daily operation of the service including manage patient record, data and compile service statistics.

9. Handle patient registration, appointment booking, enquiry and make telephone follow-up.

10. Perform procedures and maintain documentation to comply with the requirement for quality, safety, occupational health & environmental protection.

11. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Entry Requirements\:

1. Completed F.5 / S.5 or equivalent (see Remarks);

2. Completion of structured departmental training (see Remarks);

3. Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.

Preferred Attributes\:

1. Possess recognized Health Care Assistant Training / Care-related Support Workers Certificate.

2. Possess working experience in metalwork, woodwork, tailoring, sewing craft, teaching computer skills, electrical, electronic or other technical aspects.

3. Holding certificate(s) of health care related training or possessing working experience in health care settings.

4. Knowledge in computer applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Chinese word processing and simple multimedia programs (e.g. Flash or similar software).

5. Experience in direct patient care and interested to work in hospital with patients.

6. Good communication and interpersonal skills.

2. Applicants who do not meet entry requirements (2), if find suitable, will be employed to undergo at least 6 months’ on the job training including the structured departmental training. Employment may be terminated if the selected applicant cannot pass the assessment after training.

3. Serving staff who completed F.3/ S.3 with at least 2 years' care-related experience may also apply. Candidates who have completed the JUMP program organized by the HA are considered to have attained F.3/S.3 level.

4. Selected candidate will be offered Temporary Part-time terms for 6 months. The renewal /extension of appointment will be subject to service needs, availability of funding and job performance.
