Performs activities related to answering emergency calls and providing accurate information to correct agency regarding those calls. Dispatch police officers as necessary to eliminate criminal activity, disturbances, accidents, etc.
- Alerts Memphis Fire Department, and/or Memphis Police Department as appropriate.
- Inputs incident and dispatch information into computer, NCIC or SCATS terminals.
- Notifies University officials of incidents in accordance with University policies.
- Receives information regarding need for assistance or alarm situations and disseminates it to responding Officers; explains the nature of the incident to Officers.
- Verifies names of persons authorized to use University facilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requires a High School diploma or GED and six months experience in dispatching, as a police officer, or in public safety. Required to have or obtain basic certification for operation of Tennessee Information Enforcement System (TIES).
