Temporary Worker - Technology Support Intern

Reports To: Desktop Services Manager

Pay Grade: Temporary Worker

Pay Rate: $10.00/hour

Qualifications:

Minimum Age Requirement: 16 years old

Current Katy ISD Student

Interest in learning the repair of computer equipment and peripherals

Proficient in verbal and written communications

Primary Purpose:

Work with Katy ISD technology staff to provide technical assistance and support for network cabling and hardware issues.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Maintain and repair of district’s computers and peripherals on a scheduled basis.
2. Record activities using the technology ticketing system to record and complete service requests.
3. Document campus technology asset inventory moves using assets management software (KAMS).
4. Deliver, unpack, set-up, tag and test newly purchased equipment.
5. Organize and maintain computer and peripherals.
6. Advise customers on equipment conditions.
7. Assist with yearly inventory.
8. Perform preventative maintenance on systems during the summer.
9. Report accidents and refer potential safety hazards to supervisor.
10. Communicate positively with other district employees.
11. Assist with running new data cabling in new or existing buildings.
12. Termination and testing of data cabling.
13. Assist with running HDMI and USB cables.
14. Assist with testing and troubleshooting of cable.
15. Repair of existing cable infrastructure.
16. Relate to and communicate positively with other district employees.

Equipment Used:

Hand tools, network tester for cable installation, moving dollies, blowers, vacuums, computers and peripherals.

Working Conditions:

Climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting of heavy equipment (50 lbs); frequent use of small hand tools and electronic test equipment.
