Test Automation Engineer (AI) – Auckland CBD
Salary: $120,000 – $125,000 per year
We're looking for an experienced Test Automation Engineer who is passionate about quality engineering and excited by the opportunities AI is bringing to software development.
This is a hands-on role where you'll design and build automated test frameworks while also carrying out manual testing when required. You'll play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability and performance of a modern web-based platform, with a strong focus on testing AI-enabled features and leveraging AI to improve the testing process.
What You'll Be Doing
Design, develop and maintain automated test suites for web applications.
Execute manual testing for new functionality, exploratory testing and regression testing where appropriate.
Validate AI-powered features, including prompt testing, output verification and handling non-deterministic responses.
Work closely with Software Engineers and Product Managers throughout the SDLC.
Use AI tools to accelerate test creation, maintenance and execution.
Identify, document and track defects through to resolution.
Continuously improve testing frameworks, processes and quality standards.
What We're Looking For
Minimum 5 years' experience in software testing or quality engineering.
Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining automated test frameworks.
Solid manual testing experience, including exploratory and regression testing.
Experience testing modern web applications and APIs.
Practical experience testing AI/LLM-based functionality, including prompt evaluation, response validation and edge-case testing.
Experience using AI coding assistants or AI-powered testing tools to improve productivity.
Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and Agile delivery.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with developers and stakeholders.
Nice to Have
Experience with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium or similar automation frameworks.
API testing experience using Postman or equivalent.
CI/CD pipeline integration.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
