Test Automation Engineer

Salary: RM 14,000 – RM 16,000 per month

About the role

This role is responsible for leading and continuously enhancing the organisation's Quality Assurance and Test Automation practice, ensuring quality is embedded throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC). The role provides both technical and people leadership across web applications, mobile applications, APIs, integrations, data platforms, reporting solutions, and cloud-based services.

This position owns the overall testing strategy, planning, governance, and execution for business-critical platforms and initiatives, establishing testing standards, best practices, and quality engineering frameworks aligned with Agile and DevOps delivery models. The role drives the adoption of automation-first testing, CI/CD quality gates, modern test methodologies, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve software quality, delivery efficiency, and risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all phases of the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) from requirements analysis through to test closure

• Review requirements and ensure appropriate functional, integration, non-functional, and regression test coverage

• Define and approve test strategies, test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and entry/exit criteria

• Manage testing scope, schedules, environments, dependencies, and resource requirements

• Identify and mitigate testing risks, issues, and constraints that may impact delivery or quality

• Ensure testing activities are executed in accordance with established QA standards and processes

• Assess test outcomes and provide recommendations on release readiness and production deployments

• Ensure test artefacts, evidence, and traceability documentation are maintained and completed

• Lead, coach, mentor, and develop QA Engineers and Test Analysts

• Communicate testing progress, quality status, risks, and issues to project teams and stakeholders

About you

• Bachelor in Computer Science/Business (equivalent or higher)

• Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience in Software Quality Assurance, Test Automation, and Quality Engineering, with at least 3 years leading and mentoring QA teams

• Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end testing activities across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), including test strategy, planning, execution, defect management, reporting, and test closure

• Proven experience delivering QA services for enterprise web, mobile (iOS/Android), API, integration, cloud, data, reporting, and business intelligence solutions

• Strong experience establishing and maintaining test automation frameworks (Selenium/Playwright and C#) and integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and Git-based development workflows

• Experience defining and implementing comprehensive functional and non-functional testing strategies, including unit, integration, system, regression, acceptance, performance, security, load, stress, usability, compatibility, and reliability testing

• Hands-on experience with Agile, DevOps, Continuous Testing, Test-Driven Development (TDD), and Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) methodologies and tools

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder management, communication, and organisational skills, with a high degree of ownership, accountability, and self-motivation.
