Our client is a leading international product leader in the automotive industry. With a global presence in over 80 countries worldwide, they are rapidly expanding as they advance into the dynamic landscape of the automotive industry. Their Singapore office and manufacturing plant has been established for more than 25 years and they are now seeking a qualified Test Engineer to join their team!
Work location: Central
Working hours: 5 days work week (Mon – Fri), standard office hours
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and optimise test engineering resources to maximise test equipment uptime, capacity, and overall production efficiency while meeting manufacturing schedules.
- Install, modify, maintain, and continuously improve automated test systems, test equipment, and testing procedures to enhance product quality and operational performance.
- Monitor equipment utilisation, control engineering costs, and prepare budget forecasts and expenditure plans to support departmental objectives.
- Develop, maintain, and update engineering documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), equipment specifications, and maintenance records.
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM), troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of production test equipment to ensure high equipment reliability and minimal downtime.
- Investigate and resolve test hardware, software, and equipment-related issues to minimise test system failures and ensure stable manufacturing operations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise test performance, increase throughput, reduce test cycle time, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Develop, enhance, and maintain test software and test methodologies to improve testing accuracy, efficiency, and product yield.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Manufacturing, Quality, Process Engineering, and cross-functional teams to support new product introductions (NPI), process improvements, and engineering change implementations.
- Analyse test data, identify root causes of failures, implement corrective and preventive actions, and support yield improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance and hands-on training to Engineering Assistants, Technicians, and production personnel on equipment operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Participate in employee engagement, safety, quality, and continuous improvement programmes, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives where applicable.
- Lead or support engineering projects focused on automation, equipment upgrades, productivity enhancement, cost reduction, and manufacturing excellence.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related discipline).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or production engineering environment, preferably in electronics, semiconductor, or automotive industries.
- Hands-on experience with automated test systems and common electronic test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, programmable power supplies, electronic loads, and test fixtures) is preferred.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships with cross-functional teams, vendors, and external stakeholders.
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
