Test Engineer

Automation Test Engineer | Contract | Wellington

We're looking for an experienced Automation Test Engineer to join a Wellington-based organisation on a contract basis, supporting the delivery of complex technology projects.

This is a hands-on testing role where you'll be responsible for designing, developing and executing automated tests across applications, APIs and integrated systems.

You'll work closely with developers, testers and other technical stakeholders to improve test coverage, identify defects and support reliable software delivery.
What you'll be doing:

• Designing, developing and maintaining automated test scripts
• Performing end-to-end (E2E), API and integration testing
• Building and improving test automation frameworks
• Working alongside development teams to identify and resolve defects
• Integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
• Contributing to overall testing practices and software quality

What we're looking for:

• Proven experience as an Automation Test Engineer or similar
• Strong hands-on experience developing automation scripts
• Experience with tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress or similar
• Strong API testing experience using Postman, REST APIs or equivalent
• Programming experience in C#, Java, JavaScript or Python
• Good understanding of SQL, CI/CD and Agile delivery
• Ability to work independently within a collaborative engineering environment
