Test Engineer (Open)

Summary

Test Engineer at Micron performs failure analysis on semiconductor devices using advanced tools and scripting, then documents findings and drives process improvements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical and physical failure analysis for device anomalies, customer returns, and qualification failures.

  • Apply advanced FA tools including FIB/EDX, SEM, Ion Millers, CSAM, 2D/3D X-ray, Emmi systems, micro-prober and bench tester.

  • Analyze test data failures using Bash/Python scripting in a Unix environment.

  • Analyze electrical signatures and physical defects to resolve failure mechanisms.

  • Collaborate with process owners and Product teams to drive improvement actions.

  • Develop and implement new FA techniques to reduce turnaround time and enhance accuracy.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and embrace standards for FA workflows.

  • Ensure strict consistency to lab safety protocols and chemical handling guidelines.

  • Maintain +6S standards in the FA lab.

  • Prepare detailed FA reports and maintain accurate records for traceability.

  • Present findings to requestors, MRB and multi-functional teams.

  • Provide guidance to FA technicians and lead workload distribution.

  • Work closely with vendors for tool upgrades and capability improvements.

  • Utilize AI-enabled tools and digital solutions to accelerate failure analysis investigations, improve problem-solving efficiency, and enhance decision-making.

  • Identify opportunities to apply automation, data analytics, and AI technologies to optimize FA workflows, reduce turnaround time, and improve operational effectiveness.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering is required

  • Strong analytical, logical and critical thinking skills

  • Effective communicator, able to collaborate across all levels

  • Growth mindset with a passion for continuous learning

  • Internship or experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus

  • Interest in and knowledge of the semiconductor industry and Micron is preferred

  • Ability to apply baseline digital fluency and role-appropriate Al literacy to use Al-enabled tools responsibly and effectively for research, analysis, content creation, problem-solving, operational tasks, and achieving business outcomes.
