Test & Evaluation Systems Engineer - JobID-0225
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT) is seeking a Test & Evaluation Systems Engineer to be part of our team and based out of our Mount Laurel, NJ location.
Clearance & Location Requirements:
- All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
- This is an on-site position. Requiring at least 5 days in office, based out of our Mount Laurel, NJ location.
- System Stress Testing & Modeling: Execute complex system stress tests (including Medusa stress) and utilize MATLAB to model and evaluate weapons systems.
- Performance Analysis: Calculate, analyze, and evaluate probabilistic combat system performance measures (such as PK, PES, PSI, and CK), particularly for live fire and Aegis-related scenarios.
- Real-Time Architecture Evaluation: Navigate, test, and validate within a real-time, event-based architecture that utilizes DDS RTI (Data Distribution Service Real-Time Innovations) and UDP communications (e.g., Sigpro SPY.
- Software Certification: Ensure software meets rigorous certification standards and validation processes.
- AI Workflow Integration: Incorporate and leverage AI agentic workflows to automate recompiling tasks and streamline testing processes.
- Architecture Evolution: Participate in the ongoing testing and rearchitecting of the system as the program evolves.
- Mentorship: (For mid-to-senior roles) Provide guidance, support, and domain knowledge transfer to junior engineering staff.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics, or equivalent full-time professional experience.
- 3+ years of full-time professional experience Testing and Evaluation System Engineering, or related technical roles.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, as needed
- Core Software Engineering: Proficiency in C++ and Java.
- Cloud & Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with AWS (Amazon Web Services)
- Real-Time Systems: Demonstrated experience with real-time processing and event-based architectures (specifically DDS RTI and UDP; Note: Kafka is not applicable here).
- Build & Deployment: Strong working knowledge of makefile systems and software certification processes.
- Systems Modeling: Proven expertise in systems modeling and probability calculations, specifically using MATLAB.
- Testing & Evaluation (T&E): Strong background in system performance evaluation and stress testing methodologies.
- Aegis Domain Knowledge: Prior experience with the Aegis combat system is highly desired, especially for mid-to-senior candidates to support the team, though training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Specific Metric Familiarity: Prior experience calculating specific defense/combat metrics such as PK (Probability of Kill), PES, PSI, and CK.
- Advanced AI Application: Experience actively using AI agents for software recompilation and automated testing workflows.
- Specific Tooling: Sigpro SPY communications.
