TEST JOB - Senior Data Analyst, Data Products

Summary

About Your Role

Help shape how Hearst uses data to understand audiences, measure the performance of its data products and navigate emerging AI ecosystems. As Senior Data Analyst, Data Products, you'll develop scalable analytics and measurement frameworks that turn complex data into actionable insights, helping teams across Hearst make smarter product, content and business decisions.

In this role, you'll join Hearst Corporate's Data team, which develops enterprise data products and insights that help Hearst's businesses better understand audiences, measure performance and make data-informed decisions.

This hybrid role is based in New York City, with an expectation of working in the office three days per week, and reports to the VP of Audience Analytics.

What You'll Do

  • Develop scalable audience insights across brands, platforms and distribution channels using first-party identity, behavioral and contextual data to identify engagement and growth opportunities.
  • Build reusable measurement products and self-service analytics that help teams understand audience composition, engagement, overlap and performance across the enterprise.
  • Design measurement frameworks to evaluate how Hearst content is discovered and used across emerging AI ecosystems, including large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), AI-powered search and content licensing initiatives.
  • Create dashboards and analytical products that measure AI-driven content discovery, attribution, engagement and business impact.
  • Define KPIs and develop reporting that measures the performance of digital products, identity resolution efforts and other strategic data initiatives.
  • Analyze audience segments, digital product performance and advertising effectiveness to uncover insights that inform personalization, targeting, content and business strategies.
  • Translate complex analyses into clear data visualizations, recommendations and presentations for technical, business and executive audiences.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Data and business leaders across Hearst Consumer Media, serving as a trusted advisor on measurement, analytics and data-informed decision-making.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience using analytics, business intelligence, data science or related disciplines to solve complex business problems and inform decisions.
  • Expert proficiency in SQL and experience working with large-scale data warehouses such as Redshift or BigQuery.
  • Experience defining business KPIs and developing measurement frameworks for digital products, audiences or data-driven experiences.
  • Advanced experience creating reports and dashboards with business intelligence tools such as Looker or Tableau and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex findings clearly through data visualization, writing and presentations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, collaborate across functions and influence technical, business and executive stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with digital publishing, audience measurement, first-party data, identity resolution, content metadata, SEO, AI search or digital advertising ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with the digital media and publishing landscape, including media research tools such as Nielsen or Comscore, CTV and digital advertising, programmatic media or cross-platform measurement.

Compensation

A final decision on the successful candidate's starting salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills and experience, training, certifications, education, geographic location and market considerations.

The base salary range below represents the Company's good-faith estimate for this position in the posted work location at the time of posting.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is:
$126,000$140,000 USD
