Test Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the test management function for core banking system projects, including system upgrades, new module rollouts, and regulatory-driven changes.
  • Develop and own the overall test strategy, test plans, and test schedules aligned to project timelines and release cycles.
  • Plan and manage the full testing lifecycle: functional testing, system integration testing (SIT), regression testing, and support for user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Coordinate testing activities across core banking modules such as deposits, loans, account opening/maintenance, and end-of-day batch processing.
  • Manage a team of test analysts/engineers, assigning workload, reviewing test cases, and ensuring quality and timeliness of test execution.
  • Identify, log, track, and prioritize defects; drive root-cause analysis and retesting with development and business teams.
  • Liaise with business stakeholders, business analysts, developers, and vendors to clarify requirements and resolve testing issues.
  • Prepare and present test status reports, quality metrics, risk assessments, and go/no-go recommendations to project stakeholders and senior management.
  • Ensure testing practices comply with internal QA standards, audit requirements, and relevant banking/regulatory guidelines.
  • Support test environment and test data management, coordinating with infrastructure and vendor teams as needed.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of test processes, tools, and automation adoption where applicable.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of experience in software testing within banking or financial services, including at least 2–4 years in a test lead or test manager capacity.
  • Proven experience testing core banking systems (e.g., Finacle, Temenos T24/Transact, Flexcube, or similar platforms) is highly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of the commercial banking product lifecycle: deposits, loans/credit facilities, trade finance, or cash management.
  • Strong knowledge of test management methodologies (SIT, UAT, regression, non-functional testing) and the software development lifecycle (Waterfall and/or Agile).
  • Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, HP ALM/Quality Center, Zephyr, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with SQL for data validation and basic understanding of batch/EOD processing in banking systems.
  • Working knowledge of banking regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., MAS guidelines) as they relate to system testing and change management.
  • Experience with test automation tools/frameworks is an advantage, though not mandatory.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and people-leadership skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ISTQB, PMP, or equivalent) are a plus.
