How do you prove in months that a physical product will still work after 8-10 years on a farm? That is essentially your challenge as Senior Test & Validation Engineer - Physical Hardware. You will build the bridge between what happens to Collie's product in the real world and what can be reproduced, measured and accelerated in a laboratory environment. The objective is not simply to execute predefined tests. You will determine what should be tested, why it matters and how the results relate to years of real-world use. It is a rare opportunity to build a physical testing and validation capability rather than inherit an established one.
What are you going to do?
You will develop a structured and repeatable approach to physical product testing and validation.
Starting from how Collie's hardware is actually used on farms, you will identify the forces and environmental conditions that influence product lifetime and translate these into meaningful tests.
You will: - analyse how Collie's hardware behaves and fails under real-world conditions; - identify the physical and environmental factors that influence reliability and product lifetime; - translate these conditions into repeatable laboratory tests; - develop accelerated-life and durability testing approaches; - define test methodologies, measurements and acceptance criteria; - design custom test rigs and setups when no suitable commercial solution exists; - select and source off-the-shelf test equipment where appropriate; - run tests and translate the results into actionable engineering insights; - perform root-cause and failure analysis from first principles; - work closely with product and mechanical engineering to improve designs and materials; - create a structured testing methodology that Collie can continue to scale; - provide technical direction and share your testing expertise w...
