Thematic Equity Sales Strategist, Equity Trading Strategy, Vice President

We are looking to hire an experienced strategist to join Citi Equity Trading Strategy (CETS) team in New York with a focus on thematic investing. The team is responsible for providing market commentary on the global equity markets, including tactical market analysis. CETS combines macro, equity and derivatives viewpoints to make directional and relative value trading calls alongside medium-term thematic views.

The candidate will be a key contributor to, and communicator of, views to Citi’s trading platform, institutional clients and the Citi Private Bank. Additionally, the US CETS Strategist will partner with the US and global CETS and research teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to building and executing a fundamentally based framework for thematic investment. Primarily for custom baskets, but also including sectors, ETFs and related products
  • Coverage of US equity market, including top-down analysis of valuation, earnings, options markets, sector recommendations and trade ideas
  • Thought leadership for US equity trading & sales
  • Generate formal client recognition for Citi’s US equity strategy product via client votes and external poll rankings
  • Produce ad hoc tactical, floor-based market commentary and trade ideas for a wide variety of clients
  • Present content on client calls, conferences, and meetings
  • Manage client requests for data and analysis
  • Provide internal input to senior risk takers.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • The individual should have experience in a market-facing research or strategy role preferably with some exposure to fundamentally-based equity concepts
  • Be conversant in some combination of macro equity (sectors, styles, ETFs, Equity Index and Sector Volatility), derivatives, delta-one and/or quantitative investment strategy
  • Macro Equity (implications on sectors, styles, ETFs, Equity Index and Sector Volatility)
  • Thematic Delta-One (Custom Baskets, ETFs, Style Factors)
  • Market Structure / signaling (CTA signaling, Vol Signals, Liquidity and impact analysis)
  • Track record of providing thought-leading, collaborative equity strategy product involving research analysts, macro strategists and front-off risk-takers.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong quantitative skills. Experience with Excel is required
  • Knowledge of coding languages like Python, SQL, Matlab, C++ etc. is ideal
  • Understanding of financial analysis, modeling and valuation techniques
  • Experience in fostering client relationships, both internal and external
  • Ability to work calmly and with efficiency and accuracy under pressure; detail oriented
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet difficult deadlines
  • A team player and leader.

Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of experience
  • Typically MBA/CFA or equivalent.
