Position Summary
The School-Based Therapist provides behavioral health services to students within a school setting, helping them navigate emotional, behavioral, and social challenges that impact overall well-being and academic success. This role delivers individual, group, and family interventions while collaborating with school staff, families, and community partners to promote positive outcomes for students.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy services to students.
- Conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and maintain timely clinical documentation.
- Utilize evidence-based and trauma-informed interventions, including CBT, DBT-informed skills, Motivational Interviewing, and psychoeducation.
- Support students experiencing anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, trauma, grief, family conflict, peer relationship issues, and school-related stress.
- Collaborate with families, school personnel, and community providers to coordinate care and support student success.
- Participate in treatment team meetings, case consultation, and clinical supervision as appropriate.
- Respond to crisis situations and student safety concerns in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, ethical standards, and school-based protocols.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or a related field preferred.
- Active KY clinical license (CSW, LPCA, LMFT, LCSW, LPCC) preferred but not required)
- Experience providing behavioral health services to children and adolescents preferred.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, student mental health needs, family systems, and evidence-based treatment approaches.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and documentation skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
