Therapy Aide (TA) | Geriatric Rehab
Summary
Assist elderly patients with therapeutic exercises and daily activities under supervision of physical and occupational therapists in a geriatric rehab setting.
Job Description & Requirements
- Assist elderly through prescribed therapeutic exercises and activities to enhance mobility, strength, and overall physical function
- Assist PT and OT with the activities for geriatric client
- Motivate elderly to practice essential life skills with tailored positive reinforcement
- Monitor treatment compliance and record developmental milestones or concerns
- Assist with transferring of patient
- Setup equipment for therapy session and ensure area is clean and safe
- Observe and report elderly progress or challenges to the occupational therapist
- Support the occupational therapist during group therapy session
Requirements:
- WSQ Certificate in Healthcare Support (Therapy Support), or NITEC in Community Care & Social Services
- Min 2 years experience in healthcare or therapy
