Job Status: Part-Time/1099 Contract
Pay Rate: $17/hr for paid prep and $24/hr for instruction
Description: Looking for part-time work and flexible hours? Tiger Tutor, a social enterprise service run by Chinese Mutual Aid Association, seeks part-time tutors and instructors to prepare students for standardized tests such as the ACT, SAT, PSAT, and CPS’s HSAT and Academic Center Exam. Tutors plan and conduct academic tutoring sessions with clients. Our tutoring services include private one-on-one sessions, small group tutoring, and individualized consultations. We are a growing social enterprise that prioritizes creative freedom and flexibility, and we offer part-time work with flexible hours.
Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct private and/or small group tutoring sessions (3-5 students) for elementary, middle, and high school students.
- Administer pre and post-test assessments and provide regular student updates and progress reports to Tiger Tutor administrative staff.
- Develop lessons following the Tiger Tutor curricula and source or create supplemental materials for learners to strengthen client academic development.
- Regularly and proactively communicate with parents/caregivers and Tiger Tutor administrative staff about scheduling, lessons, services, and student progress.
- Work in-person or virtually as per client preferences, with the ability to travel to client neighborhood libraries, primarily in the North Side of Chicago.
- Complete other duties as assigned by supervisors, such as attending team meetings, developing new curricula, or participating in training sessions
