Job Summary
The Tire Operations Manager (TOM) will lead the tire service operations for our Houston Doggett Toyota Lift branch. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day performance, profitability, customer satisfaction, safety compliance, and operational efficiency across all tire-related functions.
This leader will manage a dedicated team of tire technicians and support staff, oversee field service and shop scheduling, and maintain control of inventory, procurement, and equipment uptime. The successful candidate will be results-driven, customer-focused, and capable of optimizing business performance while maintaining the highest standards of service and safety.
Essential Functions
1. Financial & Operational Oversight
  • Own and manage full departmental Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibilities.
  • Develop and monitor operational budgets and forecasts.
  • Analyze KPIs and implement performance improvement strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes and safety regulations.
2. Equipment & Fleet Maintenance
  • Ensure tire service trucks, mobile presses, and stationary presses are operational and well-maintained.
  • Coordinate inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Enforce safety and regulatory standards across all equipment.
3. Sales Growth & Customer Development
  • Drive tire conquest sales efforts in coordination with local SOS reps.
  • Lead cold calling, site visits, and biannual Tire Sales Blitz campaigns.
  • Generate and manage tire quotes with a focus on price, quality, availability, and supplier reliability.
  • Respond to customer inquiries promptly with the highest standard of service.
4. Inventory & Supplier Management
  • Manage inventory control processes including weekly cycle counts, FIFO practices, and 5S implementation.
  • Minimize obsolescence through returns and audit protocols.
  • Place and track stock and critical tire orders, ensuring timely delivery and accurate cost allocation.
  • Process and track product returns and credits.
5. Field & Shop Scheduling
  • Schedule and dispatch tire service jobs for both field and shop locations.
  • Provide internal and external customers with accurate lead times and job status updates.
  • Ensure workforce efficiency and coverage.
6. Leadership & Team Development
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop tire service technicians and support staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and promote a culture of safety and excellence.
  • Ensure all technicians are properly trained and equipped with the tools and knowledge necessary for success.
  • Perform weekly payroll duties, including scheduling PTO, and annual performance reviews.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience managing tire service or fleet maintenance operations.
  • Strong financial acumen, including P&L and operational budget management.
  • Mechanical knowledge and experience with tire service tools and equipment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and inventory management systems.
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred but not mandatory.
Work Environment
Occasional evening or weekend availability may be necessary based on operational needs.
Typical Physical Activity and Environmental Conditions:
Physical Demands/Requirements consist of standing, walking, sitting, talking on the phone, occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs., stooping, typing, fine dexterity, hearing and speaking. Indoor offices. Exposure to shop and field environments, including moderate noise and temperature variations.
