TOEFL Assessment Consultant

Study.com is dedicated to making education easily accessible and highly valuable. We are looking for multilingual ESL/TESOL experts to work online and perform quality assurance on TOEFL practice content to help students prepare for one of the world's most recognized English proficiency exams. This is an online, remote contract role. All work is paid per hour

As a TOEFL Assessment Consultant, you will:

- Review and evaluate user responses to TOEFL/TESOL practice questions using rubrics created by our in-house team
- Review and edit written feedback provided to users, ensuring it is accurate, clearly worded and aligned to rubric criteria
- Develop deep familiarity with a specific question type (e.g. Write an Email, Virtual Interview, Academic Discussion) and how responses should be structured and scored for that type
- Perform peer review by comparing your evaluations against those of fellow contractors and grader-generated scores to ensure consistency and accuracy

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, ESL, Education or a related field
  • TESOL certification
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with adult ESL learners
  • Minimum 1 year of experience teaching or tutoring TOEFL specifically
  • Non-native English speaker with native-level multilingual proficiency
  • Demonstrated familiarity with structured assessment and rubric-based evaluation; teaching specialty (writing, speaking, etc.) is flexible
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to apply consistent scoring standards
  • Self-sufficient and able to work independently as an online contractor
  • Strong communication skills; this is a collaborative role involving regular interaction with fellow reviewers and the in-house team

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with TOEFL 2026 updates and the current exam format
  • Experience evaluating or scoring Academic Discussion, Write an Email, or Virtual Interview question types
  • Background working with adult learners in a university or community college setting
