Tonga: HR Generalist
The Human Resources Department (HRD) is seeking to appoint an HR Generalist to provide HR operational support services in Tonga. This role is suited for someone who can work with minimal supervision, manage complex workforce matters and partner effectively with leaders, employees, HR colleagues and HQ stakeholders. This is a permanent full-time position based at the Tonga Country Office reporting to the Area HR Operations Manager. We are willing to implement a development pathway for the right candidate who may partially meet requirements.
Administer HR policies and provide guidance on workforce policy interpretation
Support workforce relations and employee dispute resolution processes
Conduct end to end recruitment processes
Support operational risk analysis and prepare ad hoc HR reporting
Coordinate and support reduction-in-force (RIF) activities and workforce transition processes
Manage exit interview processes, administration, and reporting
Provide local HR support and administration for expatriate employees
Assist with business requirements gathering and HR technology rollouts
Participate in legal reviews relating to employment separations, workforce investigations, training, and employee relations matters
Resolve complex HR and employee relations issues while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
Perform HR administration and manage HR Information Systems
Undertake additional HR projects and responsibilities as assigned
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of four years’ professional HR experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
Master’s degree in a related field and/or HR certification (preferred)
Comprehensive working knowledge of HR operations and employment practices
Familiarity with HR best practices and workforce administration processes
Proven ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships with leaders, employees, and stakeholders
Strong consulting and customer service capabilities
Experience coaching and developing employees and supporting organizational effectiveness initiatives
Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret workforce data to support decision-making
Demonstrated ability to facilitate and support organizational change
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence, negotiate, and build consensus
Proven capability to manage and resolve employee relations matters
Proof of legal right to work in Tonga
