Tooling Engineer

Summary

Designs and tests cutting tools for precision machining, ensuring alignment with customer specs and efficient production processes.

Purpose: Responsible for designing, developing, and testing the cutting tools to support production according to customer supplied data and drawing specifications. He/ She oversees the tool data management process and ensures seamless transition of tools from design stage to production.


Key Area of Responsibilities:

  • Review customer (internal/external) supplied data and drawings to ensure that supplied information aligns with project requirements and standards.
  • Read and interpret 2D drawings, 3D models with/without PMI, process routing instructions, manuals, and specifications.
  • Identify cutting tools required for the manufacture of complex machined parts in the most efficient and safe machining process.
  • Support the machining process in ensuring that the cutting parameter will maximize cutting performance and directly affect the bottom-line profitability of the company.
  • Maintain and monitor tools data to ensure consistency and quality are within a standard.
  • Handle workshop feedback and troubleshoot problems relating to cutting tools and programming to ensure parts are produced according to customers drawings specifications.
  • Drive continual improvement on tool data management system.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Precision Engineering or relevant).
  • Experience with using different designing software.
  • Good communication skills.
