Tools and Parts Attendant
About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to The Arts and Crafts Center, Travis Air Force Base, CA. Physical Effort: Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 10 pounds. May occasionally handle items weighing up to 40 pounds. May lift heavier with assistance from other workers. Eligible to use base facilities such as: Base Exchange (BX), Gym, Outdoor Rec, Library, Marina, Golf Course, Bowling Center, and Arts & Crafts Center.
Issues, receives and schedules use of equipment, tools and repair/paint stalls for patrons. Uses chit or other parts assignment system for accountability of assigned tools. Determines type of repair job involved and suggests a variety of tools needed to accomplish the repair. Provides instructions to customers on cleaning processes, soiled rag disposal, sweeping and cleanup of repair or pit stall and removal of excess automotive parts. Ensures tools turned-in are clean, assesses breakage or damage if any; charging customer for tools according to prescribed price listing. Operates cash register and accounts for cash using established procedures. Maintains inventory control records of items issued, conducts minor maintenance and repair of tools and equipment. Accounts for condition, inspects tools upon return, bins, stores or replaces item with new. Arranges tools and parts as stock is replenished or added. Develops display pegboards, cleans and grinds tools requiring sharp edges. Maintains a clean and orderly work area at all times. May be required to act as the primary or alternate equipment custodian.
