About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established multinational energy trading company with a strong global presence across the oil and gas value chain. As part of its continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Trade Finance Assistant Manager to support high-volume trade finance operations while partnering closely with senior stakeholders on banking and financing activities.
This role is ideal for an experienced Trade Finance professional who is looking to broaden their exposure into banking relationship management and financing activities within a dynamic commodity trading environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end trade finance processes, including the issuance, negotiation, amendment, and execution of Letters of Credit (LCs), documentary collections, and other trade finance instruments.
- Handle high-volume import and export trade finance transactions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution.
- Liaise closely with banks, traders, operations, finance, and counterparties to facilitate smooth transaction processing.
- Support the management and development of banking relationships across Singapore and international banking partners.
- Assist with bank account opening and maintenance activities, including multi-currency account management.
- Support the procurement, renewal, and enhancement of trade finance facilities and credit lines.
- Coordinate internal approvals and documentation relating to financing arrangements and banking facilities.
- Monitor utilization of trade finance lines and ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Work closely with senior management on banking, liquidity, and financing initiatives to support business growth.
- Contribute to process improvements and operational efficiencies within the trade finance and banking functions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7-10 years of hands-on trade finance experience within the commodities, oil & gas, energy trading, shipping, or related sectors.
- Strong practical experience handling Letters of Credit, export and import documentation, negotiation of documents, and documentary trade finance transactions.
- Proven experience managing high transaction volumes in a fast-paced trading environment.
- Familiarity with trade finance facilities, banking products, and credit line management.
- Experience interacting directly with banks and external financial institutions.
- Knowledge of commodity trading operations and trade flows within the oil and gas industry is highly preferred.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Meticulous, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Positive attitude and willingness to develop broader exposure in banking relationship management and financing activities.
