Trade Finance Manager

Are you an experienced Trade Finance professional seeking a new opportunity within the commodities and energy sector?

Our client is an established European trading house with a strong presence across the global energy and commodities markets and is looking for a Trade Finance Manager to join their team in Singapore. This is an excellent opportunity for a Trade Finance professional with 7 to 10 years of relevant experience to take ownership of transactional trade finance activities supporting cargoes as well as vessel operations.

Working closely with banks, traders, counterparties and internal stakeholders, you will play a key role in managing financing facilities, Letters of Credit, settlements and banking relationships while ensuring transactions are executed efficiently and in line with financing and compliance requirements. You will gain broad exposure to the intersection of commodity trading, shipping and trade finance within an international environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Partner with traders, finance teams, banks and external counterparties to support the smooth execution of commodity and shipping-related transactions.

• Oversee the day-to-day utilisation of trade finance facilities, including coordinating drawdowns across bilateral, borrowing base and structured financing lines.

• Manage the issuance and administration of Letters of Credit, Standby LCs and bank guarantees, ensuring transactions are handled accurately and within required timelines.

• Coordinate settlement activities across cargo purchases, freight, hire, bunker expenses and other vessel-related payments.

• Examine shipping and commercial documentation to ensure all financing and payment requirements are met and potential discrepancies are identified early.

• Review vessels, ownership structures and trading routes against applicable sanctions and regulatory requirements.

• Monitor financing costs and review bank charges, including interest, issuance fees, amendments and other transaction-related expenses.

• Produce regular reports covering facility utilisation, funding costs and overall transaction activity for internal stakeholders.

• Build strong working relationships with banking partners and act as the main point of contact for day-to-day trade finance matters and issue resolution.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or a related discipline.

• 7 to 10 years of hands-on Trade Finance experience, ideally gained within a commodity trading house, shipping company or commodity-focused bank.

• Strong practical experience managing Letters of Credit, bank guarantees and trade finance facilities.

• Solid understanding of trade documentation, financing processes and the requirements involved in physical commodity transactions.

• Experience covering oil products would be highly advantageous.

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive transactions accurately.

• Confident communicator with the ability to build effective relationships with banks, counterparties and internal stakeholders.

• Strong awareness of risk, compliance and sanctions considerations within international commodity trading.
