Trader
Trade Execution (Physical & Derivatives)
- Lead the execution of physical and derivative trades for thermal and metallurgical coal.
- Source, price, and negotiate contracts for thermal coal and metallurgical coal.
- Manage the end-to-end transaction lifecycle, ensuring profitability and operational efficiency.
Sales & Relationship Management
- Build and manage relationships with key clients, suppliers, and industry stakeholders.
- Develop and execute strategies to grow the client base and increase market share.
- Handle contract negotiations, ensuring terms align with business objectives.
Market Intelligence & Strategy
- Monitor global coal market trends, regulatory developments, and competitive activity.
- Use market intelligence to identify and capitalize on trading opportunities.
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships, including in niche markets within the carbon space.
Business Development
- Drive business growth by identifying new opportunities and developing innovative trading strategies.
- Explore and secure partnerships in emerging markets, with a focus on long-term sustainability.
Exposure Management
- Monitor and manage market exposure to optimize trading positions and mitigate risks.
- Implement risk management strategies in line with market trends and market dynamics.
Internal and Cross-Border Coordination
- Coordinate with traders and internal departments to support the smooth execution of transactions.
- Facilitate regular business correspondence and alignment between the Singapore team, Japanese-speaking clients and Headquarters in Japan.
Other Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, International Trade or related field or equivalent relevant industry experience
- At least 7 years of relevant experience in coal commodity trading.
- Experience in sourcing, trading and managing coal markets.
- Knowledge of derivatives markets, including futures.
- Familiarity with commodity trading platforms and exposure/risk management tools.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Good understanding of physical commodity logistics and shipment flows.
- Business-level spoken and written Japanese proficiency (JLPT N1) is required as this role involves regular communication and coordination with Japanese-speaking clients and Headquarters in Japan
