Trading Analyst

JOB TITLE : Trading Analyst

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

  • Support commercial activities for LNG short term/spot marketing and optimization.
  • Coordinate and communicate with HQ in Japan and relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor operation/implementation of LNG short term/spot cargoes and ships
  • Conduct economics and risk analysis for short term/spot cargoes and mid-term opportunities.
  • Support stakeholder engagement through participation in internal and external meetings.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Commercial & Trading Support

  • Assist in managing, negotiating, reviewing and finalizing commercial contracts including execution arrangements.
  • Participate in internal discussions relating to trading strategy and communications with HQ.
  • Provide ad hoc support in relation to DGE’s LNG marketing, trading and optimization activities.
  • Communicate and negotiate with Japanese customers and counterparties in Japanese.

Operation & Implementation Monitoring

  • Coordinate with external and internal parties to ensure smooth execution of cargoes and shipping activities.
  • Monitor transaction progress and coordinate with HQ in timely manner.
  • Exchange information effectively with external parties.

Economics and Risk Analysis

  • Maintain and enhance the shipping/freight models.
  • Conduct economics/transaction value evaluation and risk analysis.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with GM of Trading &Optimization in coordinating communication and collaboration with HQ in Japan and Mitsubishi Corporation’s global network.

QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENT:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics/Actuarial science/Finance or any related discipline.
  • Proficient and fluent in Japanese, both written and spoken. Regular communication with Japanese-speaking internal and external stakeholder is required.
  • Strong knowledge in quantitative modelling and/or derivatives trading risk support, options pricing theory (i.e. quantitative models for pricing and hedging derivatives).
  • Proficiency in statistical model and programming skills such VBA, and Python.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced commercial setting.
