Traffic Signal Technician, Senior

Salary Grade: 16 ($50,325 - $65,675 - $81,024) FLSA: Nonexempt

The purpose of this classification is to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair traffic control devices and equipment.

Essential Functions:

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Inspects and maintains traffic control devices to ensure proper operation; performs preventative maintenance activity; troubleshoots and repairs electronic equipment; and tests and programs control cabinets.

Responds to traffic control device outage calls; completes verbal and written status reports; and completes work orders and requests for maintenance.

Drives and maintains work site trucks; performs pre-trip vehicle inspection; and checks fluid levels and tire pressure.

Maintains reference material library; collects schematic diagrams and technical manuals for traffic control equipment; maintains equipment log and supply list; and updates knowledge base on new and existing technologies.

Conducts simulations in shop to test traffic control equipment; and tests new and repaired equipment to ensure proper operation

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; three years of experience maintaining and repairing traffic signals; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Commercial Driver’s License, including appropriate endorsements.
