Trailer Technician

Summary

Performs mechanical maintenance and repairs on trailers, including brakes, suspensions, and frame work, under supervision in a shop setting.

  1. Performs and/or assists in the performance of general mechanical duties.
  2. Gains experience in frame repair, brakes, suspensions and general trailer maintenance.
  3. Works on major components with close supervision.
  4. Performs trouble shooting on major problems.
  5. Attends training sessions and meetings.
  6. Maintains a neat and orderly working area, and proper handling of company tools.
  7. Advises the Leadman/Shop Foreman if additional repair work is needed.
  8. Follows safety practices and shop regulations.
  9. Completes paperwork as required to accurately document the work performed on vehicles

Qualifications

  1. Requires hands on experience.
  2. Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities.
  3. Physical requirements include:
    • Near & midrange vision
    • Hearing
    • Ability to work alone and under stress.
    • Walking, bending, stooping, crouching, pushing, pulling, twisting and reaching.
    • Lifting 75 pounds or more, sometimes shoulder height and above.
    • Ability to use pneumatic tools.
    • Using hands, wrists, elbows and shoulder for repetitive motion tasks.
    • Ability to work in seasonal heat and cold; amidst noise and dust.
    • CDL preferred.
