Training Center Attendant
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Wellness Director, the Training Center Attendant will meet and greet members and assist members by referring them to the appropriate staff members for specific training needs. Educate and enforce operational guidelines and regulations with all members. This position will be responsible for related services including instruction on equipment, maintaining and cleaning equipment and fitness areas, general operations, and attending to any emergency that may occur.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Greet and assist all members, potential members, volunteers, and staff in a courteous, professional, and friendly manner. Be enthusiastic towards members by learning their names and expressing an interest in their YMCA activities. Strive to enrich their YMCA experience by introducing them to new programs, staff, members, and volunteer activities.
- Respond to members' needs. Contact appropriate personnel when necessary. Handle complaints in a courteous manner. Effectively negotiate and resolve customer service problems.
- Monitor all wellness areas, including East & West Training Centers, Track, Half-Track Areas, Gyms, Racquetball Courts, etc., provide orientations, and assist members with workouts.
- Assist in maintenance and laundry duties to include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and general cleanliness of Training Center areas.
- Maintains and cleans equipment according to the schedule or as requested by supervisor.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the YMCA rules, policies, and emergency procedures and act as the control center for the Training Center during emergency situations.
- Shares wellness program information with members, using available tools and resources (e.g., handouts, schedules).
- Maintain working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
- Conduct, demonstrate and safely lead members at their personal level of ability, including proper exercise technique and serving as a spotter.
- Assist other staff as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
