Job Purpose
The Training Manager is responsible for leading the training and development function for Kebabs Faktory. The role will design, implement and manage structured training programmes for employees across the organisation, ensuring that training is systematic, measurable and aligned with the company's operational, service, food quality and brand standards.
The role requires a dedicated training professional with proven experience in training programme development, instructional delivery, employee competency assessment and learning & development, rather than solely experience in supervising or training staff as part of restaurant operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Training Programme Development
- Develop structured training programmes for frontline, kitchen, supervisory and management employees.
- Design training curricula, lesson plans, training modules, manuals, presentations and assessment materials.
- Establish structured onboarding and induction programmes for new employees.
- Develop role-specific training programmes based on job responsibilities and competency requirements.
- Review and update training programmes based on operational requirements, employee performance and business needs.
2. Training Delivery & Facilitation
- Conduct classroom, practical, workshop-based and on-the-job training programmes.
- Facilitate group training sessions for employees across different levels and functions.
- Deliver training on company policies, SOPs, customer service, food quality, product knowledge, workplace practices and operational standards.
- Conduct refresher and remedial training programmes where required.
- Adapt training delivery methods to different employee experience levels and learning needs.
3. Training Needs Analysis
- Conduct regular Training Needs Analysis (TNA) to identify employee knowledge, skill and competency gaps.
- Work with management to identify organisational and departmental training requirements.
- Analyse performance trends, operational issues and employee feedback to determine areas requiring additional training.
- Develop targeted training interventions to address identified competency gaps.
4. Competency Assessment & Evaluation
- Develop competency frameworks and assessment criteria for key positions.
- Conduct written, practical and observational assessments to evaluate employee competency.
- Establish training completion and competency sign-off processes.
- Monitor training effectiveness and measure improvement following training interventions.
- Maintain records of employee training, assessments, certifications and competency levels.
5. Training Materials & Learning Resources
- Develop and maintain training manuals, SOP guides, workbooks, checklists and other learning resources.
- Create training presentations and instructional materials for different employee groups.
- Ensure all training materials are accurate, current and aligned with company policies and operating standards.
- Develop standardised training resources to ensure consistency across all outlets.
6. Training Management & Administration
- Develop and maintain an annual and monthly training calendar.
- Coordinate training schedules across outlets and departments.
- Maintain comprehensive employee training records and training matrices.
- Track mandatory and role-specific training completion.
- Prepare regular training reports for management, including completion rates, assessment results and identified training gaps.
7. Train-the-Trainer Programme
- Develop and implement a Train-the-Trainer programme for Outlet Managers, Supervisors and other designated internal trainers.
- Coach internal trainers on effective training delivery techniques and assessment methods.
- Conduct trainer assessments to ensure internal trainers meet the company's required standards.
- Monitor the quality and consistency of training delivered by internal trainers.
8. New Outlet, Product & Process Training
- Develop and deliver structured training programmes for new outlet openings.
- Coordinate training programmes when new menu items, equipment, technology, systems or operational processes are introduced.
- Ensure employees complete the required training and competency assessments before implementation.
- Provide post-launch training support and evaluate training effectiveness.
9. Learning & Development Strategy
- Establish and maintain a structured learning and development framework for the organisation.
- Identify opportunities for employee development and career progression.
- Develop development programmes for high-potential employees and future supervisors/managers.
- Recommend training initiatives that support employee retention, performance and organisational growth.
- Research and incorporate relevant training methodologies and industry best practices.
10. Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate the effectiveness of existing training programmes using employee feedback, assessment results and operational performance data.
- Identify opportunities to improve training content, delivery methods and learning outcomes.
- Work closely with senior management to align training initiatives with business objectives.
- Continuously improve the company's overall training framework and learning culture.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Training, Learning & Development, Corporate Training, Vocational Training, Hospitality Training or a related training function.
Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering structured training programmes, rather than only providing informal on-the-job staff training.
Proven experience conducting Training Needs Analysis (TNA) and developing training programmes based on identified competency gaps.
Proven experience developing training materials, manuals, presentations, assessments and learning resources.
Experience conducting employee competency assessments and evaluating training effectiveness.
Experience managing training calendars, training records and learning programmes.
Experience facilitating both group and individual training sessions.
Experience developing or implementing Train-the-Trainer programmes is highly preferred.
F&B, hospitality or service-industry training experience is strongly preferred.
Strong presentation, facilitation, communication and coaching skills.
Strong organisational and project management skills.
Diploma or Degree in Training & Development, Human Resources, Education, Hospitality Management, Business Administration or a related discipline preferred.
