Training Technician

This position is located at the VA Western Colorado Health Care System in Grand Junction. The Training (Simulation) Technician reports to the Assistant Chief, Research, Development & Education and is primarily responsible for supporting the Clinical Simulation/REdI Program and in meeting the education needs of WCHCS. The purpose of the work is to assist the Clinical Simulation/REdI Program Coordinator and the Designated Learning Officer in the development and delivery of educational activities.

Duties associated with this position include, but are not limited to the following: - Assist instructor and facilitators in operating simulator-based clinical education of trainees. - Assist students, staff and faculty with preparing for and conducting simulation-based learning experiences and REdI programs. - Execute simulation and REdI programs by operating simulation control room and equipment, voice activated mannequins, recording simulation activities in TMS, monitoring safety of participants, trouble-shooting equipment and participating in scenario. - Perform post simulation activities such as debriefing playbacks, administer student and faculty evaluations, catalog recordings and return lab to pre-scenario conditions. - Advocates for simulation/REdI Program technology throughout facility/community promotion, procurement of equipment, assist in coordination of training and integration of simulation into education courses offered at WCHCS.. - Maintain simulation/REdI lab documentation and resources by adhering and assisting in developing operational policies/standards, produce simulation support materials, generate simulation lab reports, and assist in media development related to simulation. - Support Heart Code Instructor-led training sessions (simulation-based task training) for interdisciplinary healthcare professional team based on the annual schedule developed by Simulation/REdI Program Coordinator.. - Support WCHCS staff in completing RQI training to ensure Heart Code/RQI compliance. - Operates and maintains audiovisual equipment used in clinical simulation with prioritization of the Simulation/ REdI Program Coordinator. - Maintain professional development by keeping updated on simulation/REdI Program technology and standards, related competencies, participating in simulation/REdI Program education, research and providing workshops and tours as instructed by the program coordinator. - Communicate in a positive, professional manner with faculty instructors, students and other users of the Simulation/REdI Program Center. - Implement and manage the New Employee Orientation (NEO). - Coordinates and plans for the logistics of the NEO Program. - Schedules and coordinates NEO Annual Training for presenters and audit of presentations supporting 508 compliance and facility presentation standards are achieved. - Will support education and training operations to include scheduling, orientation of students and faculty, maintaining attendance logs and providing technological support. Serve as a resource for faculty utilizing RD&E equipment. - Maintenance and security of environment and all equipment within the department's Equipment Inventory List(s). - Install software and hardware upgrades and maintain functionality of equipment as directed by manufacturers support. - Perform other duties as assigned. Preferred Experience: Operates clinical simulation equipment, including voice-activated mannequins and audiovisual recording systems, during instructor-led training sessions. Conducts post-simulation debriefing activities, including playback review, administration of participant evaluations, and cataloging of recorded sessions. Implements and manages a New Employee Orientation (NEO) program, including coordinating logistics, scheduling presenters, and tracking Joint Commission-required training completions. Develops and maintains simulation lab documentation, including operational policies, support materials, and lab activity reports. Troubleshoots high-fidelity simulation equipment and coordinates with equipment manufacturers to resolve technical issues and maintain records of repairs Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm Telework:This position is not authorized for telework.
