Transfer Station Attendant

The Dalles Disposal, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a safety minded Transfer Station Attendant to join our team in The Dalles, Oregon.
Schedule is Tuesday - Saturday
Shift is 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, overtime opportunities often
Starting wage is $34.98/hour with an increase to $36.20/hour at 6-months pending a positive performance review.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet and direct all customers and employees upon entry of the transfer station.
- Safely and efficiently operate forklift, backhoe, and/or front-end loader.
- May run errands using company vehicle as needed.
- Measure trucks in and out and calculating payments for customers.
- Track measurement information in computer system.
- Ensure that incoming garbage loads are safe and do not contain any inappropriate material.
- Work on your feet outside throughout your shift.
- Assisting with office duties, filing and paperwork as needed.
- Ensure that customers and employees conduct all business in a safe manner and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ability to operate a company motor vehicle safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
- Must be dependable with an ability to lead.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly throughout the day.
- This is a physical job working in a covered area as well as outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
- To be eligible for employment, candidate must pass a criminal background check, & drug panel screening as well as have an acceptable motor vehicle report.
