Transport Supervisor
What You Can Expect:
- Take the lead role in planning, costing, and allocating routes and vehicles and ensuring sufficient flexibility in accordance with the needs/requirements of customers.
- Ensure that all in-house, sub-contracted vehicles are compliant with all legal, regulatory, and statutory requirements.
- Develop and implement a proactive, planned, and structured approach to monitoring the maintenance of fleet vehicles, keeping within the designated standard of compliance, and ensuring all vehicles used are fit for their intended purpose.
- Ensure that all transport staff delivers the appropriate service to the changing needs of customers in line with relevant processes and established KPIs.
- Develop projects related to Transport, which will result in operational efficiency and cost savings.
- To take the lead in solving problem-solving (CAPA) and prevention when incidents occur during operations and closely monitor the effectiveness of its implemented resolution.
- To assist the Transport Manager, in undertaking delegated tasks and responsibilities in line with the emerging needs and operational requirements needed in the performance of service.
- To ensure the quality of service is delivered through the consistent application of recognized ISO standards and established policies & procedures.
- Adhere to prioritize compliance with all SAFETY & Environmental related aspects in transportation and project-related work.
- Sourcing and negotiation for needed project tracking/project requirements.
- Take a role in the needs of the national setup of transport and distribution.
- Establish, maintain, and update the trucking tariffs
- Responsible to fulfil the accreditation requirements for compliance and admin
- Manage team and analyze workload and give recommendations to the superior
- Helps in monitoring the Team’s KPIs and gives suggestions to improve it
- Make sure standard processes are followed and give suggestions to improve those to increase the service level
- Supports the superior in the training needs of the team
- Acts as a first escalation point for the transport department and has close coordination with other departments
What You Bring:
Required skills / Competencies
- Preferably Supervisor / Officer in position specializing in Logistics / Transport / Supply Chain or its equivalent.
- Required Skill(s): Transport / Distribution Supervisor / Officer, Freight Logistics
- At least with 4-year of experience in the Distribution / Logistics /Supply Chain / Freight Forwarding Industry
- College Graduate, pref. Ind. Eng. (or any Business-related course)
- Experience in a similar supervisory/officer position in the transport, and distribution operations, including supervision and monitoring of staff
- Knows how to compute buying (trucking) rates and maintain an updated rate matrix in accordance with factors affecting the cost
- HIGH sense of integrity and reliability
- Experience in managing budgets & contracts
- With a background in vehicle repairs & maintenance
- Good supervisory, negotiations, control & monitoring skills
- In-depth knowledge of the freight forwarding industry
- Knowledge of BOC/ PEZA requirements
- Knowledgeable in ISO / Quality Management System
- With an established network of project tracking/project fleet
