Candidates for the port drayage dispatcher position must have a strong understanding of inland and port dispatch operations with a Safey First attitude. This position requires good communication skills, follow up, prioritization, maintaining accurate data, tracking and tracing loads in order to ensure driver satisfaction and maximize efficiency. The candidate must have strong problem-solving skills given external issues such as port congestion, delays at shippers and driver exceptions. The candidate is expected to dispatch containers according to the daily plan predicated by volume, customer requirements and driver capacity. The candidate must be able to communicate well with the customer service reps. to verify and resolve customer and shipper issues and ensure all information is properly updated timely and accurately in our TMS. The candidate must be able to work with our drivers, communicate well and build a partnership attitude to find solutions.

Qualifications:

• High focus on Safety

• Assign Drivers to loads according to delivery plans to maximize efficiency, customer satisfaction, and driver opportunity.

• Have a solid understanding of intermodal drayage (Ports/Terminals). Familiarity with all terminal congestion timeframes.

• Manage delivery exceptions to speedy resolution.

• Assertiveness when supervising drivers through constant communication.

• Work closely with team on closing any coverage gaps.

• Know and acknowledge the driver's capabilities to accommodate the routing preference when feasible.

• Professional and respectful phone etiquette with driver's and internal/external customers.

• Manage inbox, email, and answer a high level of inbound calls to assist 3rd party carrier load exceptions.

• Other tasks and duties as assigned.

Desired Skills:

• Port Drayage Dispatch Experience is required

• Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred

• Hands on knowledge of Trinium is a plus
