Transportation Security Specialist (ROC)

Securing Travel, Protecting People - At the Transportation Security Administration, you will serve in a high-stakes environment to safeguard the American way of life. In cities across the country, you would secure airports, seaports, railroads, highways, and/or public transit systems, thus protecting America's transportation infrastructure and ensuring freedom of movement for people and commerce.

This Transportation Security Specialist (ROC) position is located at Security Operations, International Operations, Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Duties include but are not limited to: Coordinates and conducts comprehensive assessments and inspections of international transportation entities to determine security posture; monitors compliance with applicable international and U.S. security policies, directives, regulations, and agreements to identify potential problem areas or deviations from prescribed standards; and ensures overall adequacy, effectiveness, and efficiency of security programs. Prepares written analysis of assessments and inspections, which determines corrective actions required to improve security posture. Serves as a subject matter expert and instructor during international assessments and capacity development courses offered to other countries. Liaisons with Regional Operations Center leadership and Transportation Security Representatives when conducting trip planning. Research travel options that follow TSA travel policies and guidance for foreign travel, and prepares cost analysis to determine cost-effective travel and hotel options. Independently serves as the Compliance technical specialist within integrated project teams and promotes Security Operations equities within the project teams, while advising leadership of potential challenges and applicable recommendations to improve work processes.

You must possess U.S. Citizenship or be a U.S. National. You must have reached the minimum age (18) at the time of application. You must complete a favorable Background Investigation (BI). Selective Service registration is required. Ability to obtain and retain Secret security clearance. Ability to obtain and retain TSA travel card. Must pass pre-employment drug screening and is subject to post-employment random drug and alcohol testing. Must be available for duty worldwide, including areas or locations that may be dangerous and may have to tolerate austere living conditions. Work may require driving or traveling by motor vehicle and occasionally involves regular and recurring exposure to moderate risk or discomforts that require special safety precautions. Foreign travel is required and may be extensive (60-85% of the time). Must have successfully completed the Aviation Security Inspection Basic Training Course (or equivalent). This position is contingent upon successful completion of the Foreign Airport Assessment and Inspections Course (FAAIC). Position required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, (5CFR Part 2634, Subpart I USOGE, 6/08). Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report upon entering the position and annually, in accordance with TSA Directive 1100.73-5 Employee Responsibilities and Code of Conduct.
