Transportation Specialist

About the Position: Serves as the senior Transportation Specialist in the Traffic Management Division (TMD) providing technical advice and assistance to the Division Chief and TMD personnel.

Serves as the primary point of contact for the clearance of inbound and outbound Department of Defense (DOD) sponsored cargo.

Planning, monitoring, and accomplishing the efficient movement of complex cargo shipments, including those of an urgent, confidential, oversize, sensitive, and hazardous nature.

Utilizes automated transportation systems, i.e., Global Air Transportation Execution System (GATES) and Integrated Booking System (IBS), to process, document, track, and report all import and export cargo.

Compiles and analyzes a wide variety of transportation data... to identify trends, measure performance against prescribed standards... and locate and define systemic problems.

Serves as an advisor to management and other personnel on a wide variety of transportation related matters.

Maintains liaison with the military services, commercial carriers, and other government agencies to exchange information, coordinate actions, and resolve transportation discrepancies.
