TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST (RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL SPECIALIST)
You will serve as a TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST (RADIOACTIVE SPECIALIST) in the Radiological Work Facility (Code 308) under the Radiological Work Facility Manager (C300N.3), Nuclear Production Manager (Code 300N), of the Production Resource Department (Code 900), of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
You will solve complex logistical problems and ensure the timely, compliant movement of hazardous material.
You will control the physical movement specifications throughout the entire shipping process, to include directing the segregation, processing, and packaging of Radioactive Waste generated during production activities.
You will oversee the radioactive material receiving process, inspecting shipments for physical damage and document accuracy, assisting crafts for unloading operations, and maintaining positive control of the material until it is formally accepted.
You will establish detailed logistical sequences for the preparation, receipt, and shipment of radioactive material in support of nuclear and non-nuclear maintenance operations.
You develop and approve customized tie-down and bracing arrangements for over-sized or dimensional loads.
You will certify that all shipments of radioactive material are properly classified, described, packaged, marked, and labeled in accordance with all federal and military regulations.
