Traveling Executive Director

Open 15d

Summary

Traveling Executive Director stabilizes and onboards senior living communities across the Western U.S., leading operations, compliance, and sales support during transitions.

We are looking for an exceptional Executive Director who can work with leadership and residents in any setting! This role is built for a senior living leader who's at their best walking into an unfamiliar building and figuring out exactly what it needs. You'll travel across our portfolio, filling interim Executive Director gaps, stabilizing operations during transitions, and leading onboarding for new communities joining Stellar. Some weeks you're running a community day-to-day. Other weeks you're focused on sales support, operational turnaround, or acquisition onboarding.

What You'll Do

  • Interim ED Leadership: Own all community operations — care quality, staffing, financials, compliance, resident/family experience — during vacancies or transitions
  • New Community On-boarding: Lead on-boarding of newly acquired communities into Stellar's systems, culture, and standards; orient incoming leadership teams
  • Flex Support: Step into operations or sales as community needs shift; partner with Regional Directors on prioritizing support
  • Team Development: Mentor and coach in-place teams so they can run independently after you leave

Who Thrives in This Role

  • Leads by example and builds trust with a new team quickly
  • Track record stabilizing or growing communities, hitting occupancy goals, improving EBITDAR
  • Understands the full scope of senior living operations — care, staffing, compliance, hospitality, finance
  • Comfortable stepping into a sales/Family Advisor role when needed
  • Effective in ambiguous, fast-moving situations
  • Prefers variety to routine and is comfortable with extensive travel

Qualifications

  • Experience: 3–5+ years as Executive Director/Administrator in AL, MC, or IL
  • Licensed AL Administrator; multi-state strongly preferred
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; healthcare admin/business preferred
  • Skills: P&L management, occupancy growth, department head leadership
  • Bonus: New community opening/acquisition experience
  • Travel: Up to 80% across the Western U.S.

Why Stellar

  • Compensation: $110,000–$140,000 base + performance bonuses
  • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision; 401(k) with match; generous PTO
  • Travel: Company-covered travel and lodging
  • Growth: Path to Regional Director or senior corporate roles
  • Development: Tuition reimbursement, ongoing training
