A DAY IN THE LIFE
Team Leadership & Commissioning
- Manage and oversee quality control personnel reporting directly to this position, ensuring clear delegation of duties and professional accountability.
- Manage and champion the project commissioning process, ensuring all systems meet specified design intent and operational standards.
- Review the status of quality and safety training completion for all site personnel and direct reports.
Meeting Management & Scheduling
- Prepare, edit, and review meeting minutes, including verifying the accuracy of previous meeting records.
- Schedule all required construction meetings with internal personnel, subcontractors, architects, and owners.
- Review project schedules, monitor the status of work-in-progress, and track rework items.
- Analyze work to be accomplished over the trailing three-week window and establish all required quality documentation.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain and update critical project logs via Procore, including the Submittal Register, Contractor Production Report, Contractor Quality Control Report, and Contractor Action Items Report.
- Complete and manage specialized quality documents: Preparatory Phase Checklists, Initial Phase Checklists, Quality Specialist Reports, Monthly Summary Reports of Tests, Field Test Reports, Rework Items Lists, and the Testing Plan and Log.
- Manage Meeting Minutes and execute formal Quality Control Certifications.
- Ensure all required project as-built drawings are maintained and kept current on a strict daily basis.
- Perform and document the Three (3) Phases of Control, Final Inspections, Closeout, and LEEDs.
Submittals & Contract Administration
- Prepare complete, accurate, and timely submittal logs based directly on project drawings and specifications using Word and Excel templates.
- Input, update, and maintain the master submittal register throughout the project lifecycle.
- Receive approved submittals from the Architect or Engineer and proactively notify the Project Superintendent of any potential schedule impacts.
- Distribute contract documents, including drawings, specifications, general conditions, accepted alternates, and addendums, to all subcontractors.
- Distribute final requirement and closeout documentation to subcontractors and consultants.
Problem Resolution & Project Support
- Resolve complex QC and production roadblocks, including Requests for Information (RFIs) and field conflicts.
- Monitor, address, and implement changes that may require formal revisions to the master Project Quality Control Plan.
- Assist the Project Manager by compiling and preparing all necessary technical backup documentation relating to project change requests.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Architecture, or Construction Science / Construction Management.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in a dedicated Quality Manager or Quality Control Director role.
- Industry Expertise: Proven track record of managing quality on Advanced Manufacturing (e.g., semiconductor, aerospace) or Life Sciences (e.g., pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, cleanrooms) construction projects.
- Methodology: Complete familiarity with and practical application of the 3 Phases of Control (Preparatory, Initial, and Follow-up).
- Technical Proficiency: Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Procore project management software.
- Commissioning: Strong proficiency and hands-on experience in the formal Commissioning (Cx) process for technical facilities.
