Tribe Release Engineer
Division: Group Business Solutions (GBS)
We are looking for a Tribe Release Engineer responsible for coordinating release activities, managing Epic/Feature releases from test to production on our various technical platforms.
Responsibility
- Leading and coordinating the release activities within the tribe, ensuring timely and successful releases
- Playing a pivotal role in ensuring smooth and efficient delivery and deployment of software products within the tribe
- In charge of streamlining the processes for delivering and deploying software to test and production environments of all the components and packages managed by the Tribe
- Responsible for optimizing the flow of work through the release pipeline (CI/CD), identifying and removing bottlenecks
- Defining the release strategy: i.e. Identifies and manages risks associated with releases, implementing mitigation strategies as needed - including release acceptance testing (non-regression)
Role
- Leading and coordinating Squad releases from the 2 areas of the Tribe : Banking & Cash
- Aligning with the overall divisional and cross divisional release governance, rhythm and calendars, align with Business for go-to market release arrangements
- Communicating the annual release calendars to the Tribe members
- Scoping and planning releases together with Test Leads during HLTLS
- Consolidating and ensuring the coherence of the release components included in the release
- Assessing and managing release components dependencies
- Measuring and monitoring progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time
- Identifying and mitigating risk related to release
- Coordinating NRT packs execution prior to Pre-Production delivery
- Facilitating the Go / No-Go process and ceremonies
- Communicating on Tribe release status
- Driving releases to Production (ensure proper sourcing and support before, during and after deployment)
- Streamlining the delivery and deployment processes
- Coordinating release post-launch activities within the tribe and in alignment with divisional release management
- Proceeding with the management, monitoring, and improvement of release processes under the guidance of the divisional release management team
- Promoting continuous integration and continuous deployment (DevOps practices).
- Defining environment needs together with Test Leads and ensure that the integrity of the pre-production or production environment is protected
- Actively contributing to GBS Testing Community of Practice to leverage new practices aiming at cost reduction, quality increase and support the Testing Transformation
Competency
- A Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Civil Engineering or similar
- Proven experience in release management, preferably within an Agile or DevOps environment. Experience in coordinating cross-functional teams and managing complex release schedules.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to plan, execute, and oversee release processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders, including business units and technical teams.
- Proficiency in risk management and the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with releases.
- Familiar with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices and tools.
- Ability to facilitate Go/No-Go decisions and lead release ceremonies.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and release management tools. Knowledge of environment management and ensuring the integrity of pre-production and production environments.
- Strong analytical skills to measure and monitor progress, ensuring timely delivery of application releases
- Ability to lead and coordinate squad releases, aligning with divisional and cross-divisional governance and rhythms.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing release schedules and business requirements, ensuring alignment with go-to-market strategies
- Familiarity with large multi-platform-based IT environments, such as Mainframe, Open system, Packages, on prem, cloud
- Former experience in integration testing activities on such multi-platform & complex environments
- familiar with testing tools is an asset
- Experience in the financial industry, knowledge in Cash messaging and the terms/terminology is an asset
