The Trucker is a critical manufacturing support position responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted flow of materials, ingredients, work-in-process inventory, molds, starch trays, packaging materials, and finished goods throughout the Processing Department. This role directly supports high-volume, automated manufacturing operations and serves as a key contributor to achieving production, safety, quality, and operational performance objectives.
The Trucker operates within PIM's modern, high-speed manufacturing environment, supporting state-of-the-art confectionery production lines. This position requires a high degree of operational awareness, equipment proficiency, material management expertise, and adherence to standardized processes to ensure production lines remain supplied and operating efficiently.
The Trucker works closely with Cooks, Mogul Operators, Technicians, Quality personnel, Warehouse teams, and Leadership to ensure materials are available at the point of use, inventory remains accurate, and manufacturing processes operate without interruption. Success in this role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, safety awareness, and a commitment to operational excellence.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Material Handling & Production Support

Safely transport raw materials, ingredients, starch trays, molds, packaging materials, work-in-process inventory, and finished goods throughout the manufacturing facility.

Support high-volume production operations by ensuring timely delivery of materials to production lines and processing areas.

Maintain continuous material flow to support Cooking, Mogul, Curing, Finishing, and Packaging operations.

Stage materials in designated production areas according to production schedules and operational requirements.

Remove completed product, empty pallets, waste materials, and obsolete inventory from production areas in a timely manner.
-
Monitor material levels throughout assigned production areas and proactively replenish materials to prevent production interruptions.

Support production startups, product transitions, changeovers, and shutdown activities.
-
Coordinate material movements to support daily production schedules and changing business priorities.
-
Maintain organization and cleanliness of material staging areas, storage locations, and production support zones.
-
Ensure proper inventory rotation and adherence to First-In-First-Out (FIFO) practices where applicable.
Powered Industrial Equipment Operation
-
Safely operate powered industrial vehicles and material handling equipment, including forklifts, electric pallet jacks, walkie riders, reach trucks, and other authorized equipment.

Conduct pre-operational inspections of powered industrial equipment at the beginning of each shift and document findings as required.

Verify equipment is operating safely and report mechanical deficiencies immediately.

Operate material handling equipment in accordance with OSHA requirements, company policies, and established safety procedures.

Follow designated travel routes, speed limits, pedestrian safety practices, and material handling protocols.

Maintain constant awareness of personnel, equipment traffic, and operational hazards while operating powered equipment.

Safely transport materials without causing damage to products, equipment, facilities, or inventory.

Maintain equipment certifications and qualifications as required by company policy.
-
Support safe workplace practices by identifying and reporting unsafe conditions involving equipment operation.
Inventory Control & Material Accountability

Maintain accurate identification and traceability of all materials and inventory movements.
-
Verify lot codes, product identification, quantities, production status, and material locations prior to movement.
-
Ensure materials are properly labeled and stored according to company standards.
-
Assist with inventory reconciliation activities and cycle count processes as required.
-
Support inventory accuracy through proper documentation and execution of material transactions.
-
Ensure materials delivered to production areas match production requirements and specifications.
-
Report inventory discrepancies, damaged materials, and product concerns immediately.
-
Help maintain effective inventory control processes that support production efficiency and regulatory compliance.
Standard Work & Operational Discipline

Execute all responsibilities in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Standard Work Instructions, and departmental expectations.

Maintain compliance with all company safety policies, procedures, and behavioral expectations.

Follow all GMP, HACCP, SQF, allergen control, food safety, and sanitation requirements.

Properly utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Immediately report accidents, injuries, near misses, unsafe conditions, and equipment concerns.

Support safety observations, audits, inspections, and corrective action programs.

Ensure all materials are handled in a manner that prevents contamination, product damage, and food safety risks.

Maintain compliance with federal, state, customer, and company requirements governing manufacturing operations.

Promote a culture where safety remains the highest operational priority.
