Truckload Operations Representative

Summary

Coordinates outbound truck freight from Los Angeles to U.S. destinations, scheduling pickups, tracking shipments, and resolving issues to meet delivery deadlines.

Scope of Position

  • This position supports the movement of outbound truck/intermodal freight from the Los Angeles region throughout the U.S., through coordination with asset based truckers, our warehouse, and other Expeditors offices.
  • The focus is proactive and innovative customer service.
  • This position requires agents to use critical thinking skills to build customized solutions to various customers.
  • This position is located within our Carson office facility and will primarily be computer work with some interaction with freight or customers as needed.
  • The position will require phone and email communication with Expeditors employees, trucking companies, and other strategic service providers.

Position Schedule: Monday – Friday 8AM to 5PM

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with our trucking carriers
  • Ensure smooth and timely pickup and delivery of freight, scheduling appointments when needed
  • Dispatch delivery orders / bills of lading and track transloads/Full Container Loads/Less than Container Loads while in transit. Follow up for Proof of Deliveries and all necessary documents needed to close out the shipment
  • Ensure timely freight process flow and delivery to meet Key Performance Indicators and Requested Delivery Dates
  • Assist with quoting trucking / delivery rates. Receive necessary information to quote (solo vs teams drivers, special requirements, etc).
  • Ensure accurate and timely client and vendor billing for trucking/delivery services. Keep carrier costs on file for seamless, on-time billing
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry into our operational system
  • Understand department process flow, constantly looking for areas of improved efficiency

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Degree or equivalent required
  • Successful candidates must pass a background check
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must not require future sponsorship for employment visa
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal
  • Must have the ability to work overtime in support of the department’s needs
  • Must be able to commute to the city of Carson, CA
  • Comfortable with numbers and basic mathematical skills
  • Comfortable working in a professional business environment with constant interaction with other team members, customer, other offices, and vendors.

  • Associates or Undergraduate Degree Preferred
  • Good computer skills (Word, Excel, and familiarity with PowerPoint)
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize throughout the workday while remaining focused and organized
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive in thought and action
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Analytical with a strong attention to detail
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including proven ability to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Has a demonstrated strong work ethic, and reliability

The hourly rate for this position is $19-$28 per hour
