This position is contingent on contract award.


Work Schedule and Location

  • Employment Status: Part-Time (~30 hours per week)

  • Location: This position is fully remote, based out of Fredericksburg, VA.


Who You Are & What You’ll Do

The Trusted Tester - Level I (Web Tester) will be responsible for evaluating, testing, and validating Section 508 compliance across a wide array of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) deliverables, web-based applications, and digital learning products.

You will utilize the current Department of Homeland Security (DHS) approved assessment methods, test reporting tools, and conformance processes to ensure all digital assets meet Revised Section 508 Standards. You will conduct rigorous web accessibility evaluations, document technical non-conformance defects, and collaborate closely with development and instructional design teams to deliver fully accessible, compliant, and inclusive user experiences.


What You Bring to the Table - Requirements

  • Certification: Active DHS Trusted Tester Version 5.0 (or later) Certification required.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

  • Technical Experience:

    • 2+ years of experience working with Information and Communications Technology (ICT) environments.

    • 1+ year of dedicated Section 508 accessibility testing experience.

  • Assessment Methodology: Demonstrated experience using the DHS Trusted Tester Version Section 508 Conformance Test Process for Web (v5.0 or later) and official DHS test reporting tools and formats.

  • Core Capabilities:

    • Section 508 Standards Knowledge: Solid working knowledge of the Revised Section 508 Standards and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

    • Web Conformance Testing: Expertise executing standardized manual and automated web accessibility test scripts across various browsers and ICT interfaces.

    • Defect Identification & Reporting: Ability to accurately document compliance failures, generate standardized test reports, and provide clear remediation guidance.

    • Collaboration: Strong communication skills to liaise with project managers, developers, and content creators to integrate accessibility best practices early in the product lifecycle.
