Tunnel Construction Engineer

(A) Job Summary:

The Tunnel Construction Engineer produces work plan and supervises the bored tunnelling work to deliver the product to the requirement of the project. He/she is expected to work well with the teammates to achieve the shared goals. Working in shifts (Day/Night) will be required.

(B) Essential Job Functions:

The Tunnel Construction Engineer is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily tunnel construction activities, including excavation, lining, waterproofing, and associated civil works.
  • Monitor tunnel works to ensure compliance with LTA specifications, approved drawings, method statements, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with consultants, LTA representatives, subcontractors, and internal project teams on technical and construction matters.
  • Review construction drawings, method statements, shop drawings, and technical submissions.
  • Monitor construction progress and ensure works are completed according to the project schedule.
  • Coordinate tunnel interface works with civil, structural, M&E, roadworks, and utility diversion activities.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues, construction clashes, and site constraints.
  • Ensure all works comply with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH), environmental, and QA/QC requirements.
  • Support temporary works, instrumentation and monitoring (I&M), and ground movement monitoring where applicable.
  • Prepare daily and weekly progress reports, inspection records, and technical documentation.
  • Attend coordination meetings with the client, consultants, subcontractors, and relevant authorities.
  • Any ad-hoc task that assigned by the manager.

(C) Minimum Qualifications/ Job Experience:

  • Recognized Diploma or Degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of tunnel construction experience, preferably on LTA MRT or major underground infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of tunnel construction methodologies, temporary works, and construction sequencing.
  • Familiar with LTA specifications, contract requirements, and authority procedures.
