Tunnel Manager
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of engineers, supervisors, and site personnel to ensure the safe and efficient execution of tunnel construction works.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee all Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) tunnelling activities, ensuring works are completed according to project schedules, specifications, and quality standards.
- Review geotechnical data, construction drawings, and technical documents to develop tunnelling strategies suitable for varying ground conditions.
- Monitor daily site progress, manpower allocation, equipment utilization, and productivity to ensure timely project delivery.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, TBM manufacturers, and relevant authorities to resolve technical and operational issues.
- Review and approve construction methodologies, work procedures, risk assessments, and method statements to ensure compliance with safety and engineering requirements.
- Supervise TBM excavation, segment lining installation, grouting, waterproofing, and other tunnel-related activities to achieve project quality objectives.
- Identify potential technical risks and implement effective solutions to minimize delays and maintain smooth tunnelling operations.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations, statutory requirements, environmental standards, and company policies through regular inspections and audits.
- Prepare and review project reports, progress updates, technical documentation, and resource planning for management.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineering and site teams to enhance project performance and operational efficiency.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Project Director or senior management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in tunnel construction, including extensive experience in TBM operations and managing projects of similar scale and complexity.
- Strong knowledge of TBM tunnelling methods, geotechnical engineering, tunnel construction techniques, and ground improvement works.
- Proven experience in planning, coordinating, and managing tunnel construction activities from design through project completion.
- Familiarity with construction drawings, AutoCAD, BIM, and other engineering software is an advantage.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Able to work independently, make sound technical decisions, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
