Summary

Designs and implements game UI screens, animations, and interactions in Unreal Engine 5 using UMG and Blueprints, translating UX flows and Figma designs into polished, scalable in-engine experiences.

We are seeking a UI Technical Designer to help deliver polished, in-engine UI for an Unreal Engine 5 game moving into production. You will translate UX flows, Figma designs, and interaction concepts into scalable UMG and Blueprint implementations while partnering with UX, art, and engineering. Responsibilities

  • Implement UI screens, user flows, widgets, animations, and interaction behaviors directly in Unreal Engine 5
  • Collaborate with UX Designers to interpret user flows, wireframes, Figma designs, HTML prototypes, and design documentation
  • Coordinate with UI Engineers to deliver technically robust, scalable, and reusable UI structures
  • Partner with UI Artists to integrate assets accurately and ensure a high level of in-engine polish
  • Prototype and iterate on frontend and in-match UI experiences
  • Support 2D UI implementation, including possible 3D-anchored, 2D-rendered gameplay UI elements
  • Create expressive, usable UI motion using UMG, Sequencer, materials, and Blueprint-driven workflows
  • Build and maintain UI prefabs, widgets, layouts, animation states, and interaction prototypes
  • Validate UI across mobile-centric and multi-platform experiences within the Fortnite ecosystem
  • Align with sound and VFX teams to match UI animations, celebratory moments, input feedback, and visual effects to the broader game style
  • Document implementation details, edge cases, interaction rules, and dependencies to support production handoff
  • Contribute to seasonal updates, publishing tasks, and live-service UI iteration

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience
  • Strong experience implementing game UI in Unreal Engine
  • Hands-on experience with UMG and Blueprint-based UI workflows
  • Ability to translate UX flows and visual direction into functional in-engine UI
  • Strong understanding of layout, interaction design, UI motion, animation timing, and responsive behavior
  • Ability to work closely with engineering while remaining comfortable with visual and experiential design concerns
  • Experience creating prototypes and production-ready UI assets or screens in-engine
  • Familiarity with Figma-based design workflows
  • Ability to iterate quickly within a changing creative and technical environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across UX, art, engineering, design, production, VFX, and sound
  • Good understanding of multi-platform UI constraints, especially mobile-centric interaction patterns
  • Excellent English proficiency (B2 level or higher)
