Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist

FULL TIME - DAYS

The Ultrasound department, also known as Sonography, specializes in imaging that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of the body’s internal structures.
Obstetric Ultrasound: Monitoring fetal development during pregnancy.
Abdominal Ultrasound: Evaluating organs like the liver, kidneys, gallbladder, and pancreas.
Cardiac Ultrasound (Echocardiography): Assessing heart function and detecting abnormalities.
Vascular Ultrasound: Checking for blood clots, blockages, or circulation issues in veins and arteries.
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound: Evaluating soft tissue injuries, joint abnormalities, and fluid collections.

Job Description:

An ultrasound technologist (also known as a diagnostic medical sonographer) plays a critical role in a hospital setting by performing diagnostic imaging procedures using ultrasound equipment. Here’s a detailed breakdown of their responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations for subsequent evaluation under the direction of Director of Radiology and Radiologist.
  • Assist Radiologist with patient during examinations and procedures.
  • Participates in CQI activities and provides input for improvement.
  • Replenish supplies.
  • Assures safe operation and daily maintenance of ultrasound equipment.
  • Must pass initial competency test and yearly competency testing thereafter.
  • Occasionally performs duties of Staff Radiologic Technologist and assumes other duties as necessary, assigned by the Director of Radiology.
  • Must maintain current BLS.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Must be a Radiologic Technologist with a current Kentucky certification
  • Must be a registered ultrasound technologist (ARDMS) or be registry eligible
  • BLS required.
