Job Summary:
Perform ultrasonic diagnostic procedures, e.g. vascular, abdominal and pelvic sonograms, for patients as ordered. May perform other administrative and clinical duties as needed for the needs of the department and/or organization.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate from an accredited sonography program, Registered Radiologic Technologist, ARRT(S), with training in ultrasound, or a Registered Ultrasound Technologist, ARDMS.
- New graduates who have successfully completed an accredited sonography program with training in ultrasound are required to become ARDMS registered within one year (52 weeks).
- Registered Radiologic Technologists who have successfully completed an accredited sonography program are required to obtain an ARRT(S) license within six months (24 weeks) of date of hire and become ARDMS registered within one year (52 weeks).
- Preferred ARDMS registered in OB/GYN or Breast within two years (24 months) of date of hire.
- Has the potential to become registered in other ultrasound specific areas (breast, vascular, etc).
- Previous experience desirable.
- CPR certification.
- Willing to work additional hours when requested by supervisor; available for callback on scheduled weekends, weekdays, and/or holidays.
- Willing to work at least one holiday each year.
- Willing to become competent in all functions related to ultrasound ACR accreditation.
- Willing to assist the Lead Ultrasound Technologist with various tasks.
- Works with the radiologist to ensure proper scanning protocol is followed.
