Responsibilities
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Operates ultrasound equipment to perform clinical diagnostic ultrasound exams and routine invasive procedures according to established standards and practices. Provides patient services utilizing ultrasound equipment. Demonstrates knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and pathology. Provides patient care to all age groups to include neonatal, pediatrics, adult, and geriatrics. Communicates effectively with staff and radiologists.
What you will do
- Demonstrates competence and proficiency in performing all diagnostic ultrasound procedures on patients of all age groups. Positions patient, selects the correct protocol, and utilizes all required equipment. Maintains competencies in all non-scanner related components.
- Accurately follows all established imaging protocols for exam being performed.
- Follows ACR and Piedmont guidelines.
- Provides quality age specific care in accordance with prescribed standards and practices.
- Provides patient education and communications in accordance with prescribed standards.
- Demonstrates continued quality improvement and proficiency in all required skills.
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:Graduate of an approved CAAHEP Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or an approved Sonography Program by the ARRT Required
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:None.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
- ARDMS/ARRT(s) registry eligible Required and
- BLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required and
- ARDMS - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography Licensure requirement for Breast Ultrasound can be met with registration through ARRT (BS), or ARDMS
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:One (1) year of experience is preferred.
