Unarmed School Security Officer

The Unarmed Educational / School Security Officer ensures efficient and professional security operations at schools within the appointed region. This position is a working level Security Officer who actively works onsite, securing school’s buildings/properties, school staff, and students, as well as locating and deterring suspicious activities while providing a safe and secure learning environment for all campus personnel. The school Security Officer is held to a high standard of physical and mental capabilities to ensure the students, parents, and staff are protected.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities

· Work to ensure the assigned premises and/or people are kept safe and secure

· Work closely and cooperatively with staff at assigned premises to ensure they are safe and secure

· React and respond quickly to dangerous/hazardous situations

· Monitor assigned location with high degree of attentiveness to surroundings

· Communicate effectively to site team using assigned radio

· Identify and correct inefficiencies, liabilities, and safety hazards at work sites

· Utilize the company’s current scheduling and approving her/his weekly hours for payroll

· Provide detailed information to authorities as needed

· Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or management



Requirements

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail is a must

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and adaptability to other related software

· Judgement and high level of integrity

· High initiative and reliable

· Ability to work in a culture of diversity, inclusivity, collaboration, and teamwork


· Must be able to pass the firearms test administered by Premier Security Solutions

· Safely and legally operate a motor vehicle

· Refer to the Standard Operating Procedures in Employee Manual regarding Use of Force


Physical Demands

· Must be able to sit, stand, bend, or walk for 100% of the shift as needed

· Must be able to quickly ascend and descend stairs and move as needed to secure premises

· Must be able to quickly physically engage to de-escalate and/or respond to security or safety threats.

· Must have excellent visual and auditory acuity to see, hear, and interpret observable people, things, behavior, and speech

· Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

Position Type and Expected Work Conditions

· Full-Time or Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt


  • Involves work assignments that vary in days of the week and time of day to relate to the 24/7 security operations of the client
  • Travel to other locations may be needed

· Both indoors and outdoors possible, regardless of weather


Required Education and Experience

· High school diploma or GED

· Valid Driver’s License and be able to provide documentation

· Required to make any/all continued training/education classes provided by Premier Security Solutions, relevant to position
